Blogger stats explosion anyone?

My blogger stats, starting on the 8th of June, have increased roughly tenfold... I can't think of any reason why the popularity of this blog has suddenly sky-rocketed, so I'm assuming it's some kind of back-end problem at blogger.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

  1. I am experiencing very good traffic, but I have been posting very aggressively and it is inline with my previous experience of this same thing.

I have heard other people talk about this though.

  2. My stats are trending in a predictable fashion, so I don't think there is a counting glitch. But hard to say really.

  3. I have also seen my stats improve - they're about two to three times what they normally are. So please don't ruin it for me by suggesting it is a glitch - I need those page views to justify my continued value as a human being :)

  4. Maybe the big updates on RPG Bloggers and my own Dark Dungeon Vaults (nirdday.blogspot.com) also help a bit? Visibility becomes higher anyhow, I hope.

  5. I had a look and the same thing apparantly happened over at my blog too, 5 to 10 times as many page views since 8th of june, traffic source seems to be Greg's blog... odd.

  6. Same here, but the referrals seem to be spread out across a few different sources. I was really surprised, because I hadn't posted anything in over a week.

  7. Mine jumped dramatically 8th June as well.

Sadly I think you are right with a glitch. I was hoping... but

    Day total of views 390.

Manual counting of posts viewed 48.

    What gives?

  8. Yup, about five times as many. Suddenly I'm gutted.

  9. Yep, me too. Traffic increase is about 10 fold. No idea what's causing it, but since the hits on specific pages, the traffic sources and the countries being viewed from are all increasing, I'm assuming its legit rather than a bug.

  10. Interesting, I was guessing it wasn't just me! I'm assuming it's a bug, as the jump was so sudden and so extreme. Having said that it doesn't necessarily mean the figures are wrong -- a bug in the tracking might just have been fixed, meaning that the figures before were wrong... Hmmm...

  11. Perhaps the old numbers were wrong :)

I am wondering if it is connected with the RPGBA. It might have to do with the way they poll for an RSS feed or something like that. I guess the question is if every one seeing the spikes have joined them?

  12. Wymarc, yes I'd also wondered whether it might be caused somehow by an aggregator site or something polling blogs in a new way... I'd not thought about the RPGBA. I've not joined it though, so I guess that's not the cause.
